
Either/Or flutist Margaret Lancaster is featured on Richard Carrick’s (E/O’s Artistic Director) recent release on New Focus Recordings.
lanterne is a timely compendium of music for compact spaces which serves as an evocative and varied reminder of the way one can create sonic resonance with even the most sparing instrumentation. Featuring a distinguished group of performers, including Marilyn Nonken, String Noise, Margaret Lancaster, Vasko Dukovski, Either/Or, John Popham, Lauren Cauley, New York New Music Ensemble, Musicians of the Gugak Contemporary Orchestra of Seoul, Eduardo Leandro, and Mivos Quartet. Lancaster performs une for flute and piano, the title track lanterne for bass flute, and in E/O’s live performance at The Library of Congress of La Scene Miniature.
Lancaster is also featured in Kamala Sankaram’s chamber opera Thumbprint which is under consideration for three Grammy® categories this year: Best Opera Recording, Best Contemporary Classical Composition, and Best Engineered Album, Classical. This summer as most live concerts continued to be canceled, the scheduled performances for composer Milica Paranosic and librettist Cheri Magid’s chamber opera Penelope and the Geese were transformed into a workshop in Ulster County that included rehearsal, audio and video recording — all done safely and at a distance!
