Director of Jazz Studies, Professor Ryan Keberle Featured in the Historic Downbeat Magazine “Blindfold Test”

Ryan Keberle playing Trombone

Professor Ryan Keberle will be featured in the “Blindfold Test” of the January ’21 Downbeat Magazine issue.  Downbeat Magazine has featured legendary jazz musicians in a listening test each month for almost 90 years including interviews with Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, etc.

The “Blindfold Test” is a listening test that challenges the featured artist to discuss and identify the music and musicians who performed on selected recordings. The artist is then asked to rate each tune using a 5-star system. No information is given to the artist prior to the test. Prof. Ryan Keberle was tested on a few of the following tracks; Al Grey and the Basie Wing: “Open Wider, Please”, The Pugh-Taylor Project: “747”, Urbie Green: “How About You?”, and many more.
