Recently featured in the New York Times, new music innovators Alarm Will Sound (AWS) and Tyshawn Sorey find ways to make music collaboratively during quarantine by using multiple platforms and creative problem-solving. The band’s oboist, Christa Robinson, is a faculty member here at Hunter College.
AWS’s Video Chat Variations is a series of commissions written specifically for this time of physical distancing. The first variation featured the music of Meredith Monk, who performs alongside the group. The collaboration with Tyshawn Sorey is the second of the series, and with more to come.
