Professor George Murer is an ethnomusicologist and filmmaker with interests in Iran, Kurdistan, Central Asia, and the Indian Ocean Region. He is currently completing a feature-length documentary on the Kurdish Granî genre called Her Bijî Granî. He recently published “The Sonic Craft of Granî: The Evolution of Turbocharged, Transnational Kurdish Music”.
