Assistant Professor and Director of Chamber Music, João Luiz Premieres Works by the Two Most Important Guitar Composers of Today

We are thrilled to share the world premiere of maestro Leo Brouwer’s piece “Los Guardianes de La Magia” written for and dedicated to professor João Luiz by the esteemed maestro! (Authorized by Mtro. Leo Brouwer and Ediciones Espiral Eterna www.eeebrouwer.com)

The other video features the unofficial premiere of Study n.1-Hermetiana from Sérgio Assad’s masterpiece 24 studies for guitar also written for and dedicated to professor Luiz.

In addition to Study n.1 you will hear Preludio n.2, a composition wrote in 2017 by professor Luiz, with influences from Blues, and Northeast Brazil’s Baião.

We will soon be posting world premieres of other works, all dedicated to professor Luiz by David Leisner, Frederic Hand, Clarice Assad, David Sampson, Douglas Lora, and Mariel Mayz. Stay tuned!
